The biaxially oriented polypropylene protective net for underground coal mine use is a special product designed and manufactured for false roof support in mining faces and rib support in roadways of underground coal mines. Compared with traditional metal woven nets and plastic woven nets, this product has emerged as a new-type supporting product with high application value in underground coal mine support engineering, thanks to its prominent advantages such as light weight, high strength, isotropy, antistatic property, flame retardancy and corrosion resistance. In recent years, with the iteration of industry standards and technological upgrading, this type of protective net has ushered in two major technological transformations.
In 2023, China Coal Mine Safety Marking Centre Co., Ltd. officially issued the Certification Rules for Non-metallic Products, specifying that the biaxially oriented polypropylene protective net for underground coal mine use shall adopt the CMAC product certification mode. Products that pass the certification and are affixed with the CMAC mark can directly demonstrate that their quality, performance, functions and other aspects all meet stringent certification requirements.
As a leading enterprise in the industry, ROAD Company has actively responded to the certification reform. At present, the company has 5 types of biaxially oriented polypropylene protective net products for underground coal mine use and 11 types of polyester fiber protective net products for underground coal mine use successfully certified under the CMAC product certification, with their product quality and compliance recognized by authoritative institutions.
In 2025, the mechanical performance indexes of the biaxially oriented polypropylene protective net for underground coal mine use were adjusted: the original elongation at break (uniformly ≤25.0% in both longitudinal and transverse directions) was replaced by nominal elongation (≤15.0% in the longitudinal direction and ≤13.0% in the transverse direction). The new indexes are not only consistent with the national and industrial standards for biaxially oriented plastic geogrids, but also more accurately aligned with the actual needs of complex support scenarios in underground coal mines. They have greatly raised the requirements for the tensile stability and service reliability of products, driving the improvement of industry product quality to higher standards.
Going forward, ROAD Company will continue to commit itself to the technological R&D of coal mine support products. Based on industry standards and guided by technological innovation, the company will constantly optimize product performance, provide higher-quality and more professional support solutions for mine safety, and strive to safeguard the safe production of coal mines and non-coal mines!
